Gyoshu Junior and Senior High School was founded in 1983 as a part of Katoh Gakuen which was established by Ms. Fuji Katoh in 1926.  The school’s motto is “Respect, Creativity, and Sincerity” and is based upon our three pillars of education at Katoh School: developing individuals who are caring and compassionate, university-prepared, and globally minded.  The Bilingual Course at Gyoshu Junior High School began in 1998.  The school was privileged to receive accreditation from the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) for the Middle Years Program (MYP) and the Diploma Program (DP) in 2000 and 2002 respectively.  Gyoshu High School is the first Japanese school to receive official accreditation for the MYP and DP from the IBO.

1) “Caring and Compassionate”
Throughout their educational activities, the students develop mutual respect and appreciation based on the school’s motto, “Respect, Creativity, and Sincerity”.

2)”University-Prepared”
Our unified secondary education system allows each student to develop to his/her full potential through a six-year consecutive curriculum.  We provide a quality education which offers intellectual challenges and inspires a love of learning.  In particular, we offer the “Alpha Course” and the “Tokushin (Special Preparatory) Course” for students who are aiming to enter top universities.
Our college counseling provides the students with individualized guidance and support accompanied by detailed and up-to-date information through the use of computer technology.

3) “Globally Minded”
The students develop global understanding through foreign language education where they can select English as well as Chinese at senior high school level.  Foreign textbooks are actively employed during lessons to help develop their comprehensive and practical language skills.
The students also have opportunities to experience overseas life by joining a one-month overseas trip at JH1, SH1 and SH2, and by visiting Singapore as a school trip at JH2.
